PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as an utero-evacuant agent in the form of crystal to be handled advantageously, in high purity favorably with respect to operation, by reacting alkali metal salt of a dioxabicyclo-octane- acetic acid derivative with a calcium salt.
CONSTITUTION: An alkali metal salt (e.g., sodium salt or potassium salt) of (1PS, 4SR, 5RS)-4-(4,8-dimethyl-5-hydroxy-7-nonenyl)-4-methyl-3,8-dioxabicyclo-[3,2,1,]- octane-1-acetic acid(referred to as the compound A) is reacted with a calcium salt shown by the formula CaX2 (X is halogen ion, sulfate ion, nitrate ion, acetate ion), to give the desired substance. The amount of the calcium salt used is an equimolar with the sodium salt of the compound A or a little excess.
