Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the heat exchange efficiency of the captioned heat exchange pipe unit by a method wherein an outer cylindrical pipe of the heat exchange pipe unit is supported by a plurality of supports which have rhombic section and which are mounted on the outer periphery of the inner cylindrical pipe of the unit so that the sectional area of indirect contact between fluids flowing in the inner and the outer cylindrical pipes is increased. CONSTITUTION:The heat exchange pipe unit is formed of the inner cylindrical pipe 2 attached with a plurality of supports 1 which have rhombic section and which are capable of expansion and contraction when bent and the outer cylindrical pipe 3 whose internal surface is supported by the supports 1. The fluids having different temperatures are introduced into the pipes 2 and 3, respectively, so as to effect heat exchange between them. As a consequence, the sectional area of indirect contact between the fluids is increased due to the existence of the supports 1 to thereby increase the heat exchange efficiency of the heat exchange pipe unit.
