Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a heat exchanger having high heat conductivity at a low cost, by pressing a mandrel supported by a movable body into a tube so as to expand it htereby forming convex and concave streaks on the inner surface of the tube by the head of the mandrel having projections.
CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of a heat exchanger having a number of fins fixed around heat exchnaging pipes to form one body, plural mandrels 9 are supported by a movable body 4, and the head 8 of the mandrels are pressed by a piston 6 while rotating by a rotating body 3 into the heat exchanging pipes 12 fitted to a number of fins. Said head 3 is provided at its outer peripheral surface with plural sets of projections 11 of about 0.35mm height at equal intervals and at a prescribed angle to the moving direction. These projections 11 allows to expand the tube 12 so as to fix closely to the fins 14, forming simultaneously spiral concave and convex streaks on the inner surface of the tubes, hereby a heat exchanger having large contact area for fluids is manufactured at excellent productivity and at a low cost.
