Abstract
PURPOSE:To make use of light energy as a heat source by a method wherein the solar energy is stored in advance in a solar energy storing substance so taht the stored energy is released from the substance in case of need. CONSTITUTION:The heating apparatus comprises an inner vessel 1 for receiving a material to be heated and an outer vessel 2 made of heat conductive material. The heat energy storing substance 3 such as norbornanediene (NBD) the chemical structure of which varies in a reversible fashion in response to the storage and release of the solar energy is put into the space between the inner vessel 1 and the outer vessel 2 so as to make the substance 3 react against a catalyst 5 coated on the outer surface of the inner vessel 1 and the solar energy stored in the substance 3 is released as heat energy to thereby heat the material in the inner vessel 1. In this case, even when heat is released entirely from the substance 3, the substance 3 can be re-used after it is subjected to the solar light to thereby save energy. Further, as regards the reaction of the substance 3 against the catalyst 5, it is also possible to put the catalyst into a predetermined amount of NBD.
