Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the flatness of a thick steel plate at the end of rolling in rolling of said steel plate by setting pass schedules adequately. CONSTITUTION:A rolling material 1 is rolled with a rolling mill constituted of work rolls 3, 3, backup rolls 2, 2' and intermediate rolls 4, 4'. The rolls 4, 4' are made movable in mutually opposite directions in the axial line direction, and are made movable respectively in the arrow marked direction with drivers 8, 8'. Roll bending force or draft is adjusted by the adjustment of said rolls 4, 4'. In this case, a measuring device 5 for thickness in the central part, and a profile meter 6 are provided in such a way that they can be moved from the center of the plate up to the end part in the width direction by a driver 7. The thickness distributions in the central part and broadside direction of the rolling material on the outlet side of the rolling mill are measured with these. From the values thereof, the thickness rates in the respective parts in the width direction are calculated with a computer 9 at every pass and when the results thereof do not attain 0, a output signal 10 is applied to the drivers 8, 8' of the intermediate rolls, whereby the axial positions of the rolls 4, 4' are adjusted.
