CONSTITUTION:A monomer mixture consisting chiefly of a monomer, a polymn. initiator, a chain transfer agent and a surfactant is diluted with a solvent such as ethyl acetate, and the diluted soln. is passed through a hollow yarn made of microporous membrane from the outer wall to remove solid particles. The filtrate obtd. by the purification is continuously block-polymerized to coat a core component. Thus, the internal loss of the resulting synthetic resin-base optical fiber is reduced, and the light transmitting performance can be enhanced.
