Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively eliminate the oscillation components of the hull of a warship mixed into a receiver output signal, by detecting the oscillation of the wall of the hull by oscillation sensors and by controlling the characteristics of adaptive filters. CONSTITUTION:Oscillation sensors 21-2N convert oscillations, propagating the wall of the hull, into electric signals and output them. The output signals of the sensors are inputted to adaptive filters 31-3N, whose output signals are subtracted out of the output signals of receivers 11-1N; the resulting difference signals are applied to the character control input terminals of the adaptive filters, and the characteristics of the filters are controlled to minimize the electric power of the difference signals. Consequently, oscillation components in the difference signals are nearly eliminated and signal components are not influenced much. For this purpose, those signals (output signals of substraters 41-4N) are inputted to a sonar signal processor 5 to perform normal signal processing of the sonar, thus obtaining a sonar signal free of self-noise.
