Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a large diameter electronic lens, prevent mechanical deformation, and improve focusing capacity by a construction wherein one electrode forming a main electronic lens consists of a thick porous plate member and a dishlike support member supporting the above plate member at its opened end portion. CONSTITUTION:An electron gun 31 forms an electronic lens with the 3rd, 4th and 5th grits 35-37, while a thick porous plate member 37a and a dishlike porous support member 37b used to support the plate member consitute the 5th grit. The plate member 37a are in contact with and supported by an opened end portion of the support member 37b having a flange 40 and an embedded piece 47, bottom portions 40 being so arranged that they contact each other. Electron beam passing holes 41a-43a in a shape close to a true circle are made in the plate member 37a via narrow bridges 44a, 45a, whereas a beam passing hole 42b having the same diameter as that of the circular plate member 37a is made in the center of the bottom 40 of the support member 37a. Beam passing holes 41b, 43b in an oval shape are provided on both sides of the support member 37b.
