Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain excellent tape running characteristics by providing a tape- tension detecting means of detecting tape tension applied by a head or a pressing means, two braking means of applying loads to a supply and a take-up reel, etc. CONSTITUTION:The tape tension of a tape 6 is detected by a guide pin 26, and the tape runs to respective head groups through guide shafts. Reel tables 2 and 3 are wound with brake bands 9 and 10 at, e.g., 180 deg. to apply braking force of the reels, thereby applying back tension to a shaft 4. Even if the reels, guides, etc., have some factors which make the tape tension unstable, invariably constant tape tension is obtained to obtain excellent tape running characteristics.
