Abstract

PURPOSE: A resin composition for electropaints capable of forming films excellent in corrosion resistance, adhesion and toughness, prepared by mixing a specified copolymer, a compound having at least two active hydrogen atoms and a blocked polyisocyanate.
CONSTITUTION: There is used a copolymer having repeating units represented by formulaI, wherein R1 and R2 are each H, a 20C or lower alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, glycidyl or the like, and repeating units represented by formulas II and/or III, wherein R3 is H, a 20C or lower alkyl, halogen, acetoxy or the like. Namely, there are mixed together 1pt.wt. above copolymer, about 0.2W8pts.wt. compound having at least two active hydrogen atoms (a compound having at least two groups such as -OH and -NH2, e.g., a reaction product between a compound having at least two epoxy groups and an amine) and about 0.1W10pts.wt. blocked polyisocyanate, e.g., a reaction product between tolylene diisocyanate and an alcohol.
