Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure a detection of a high precision for both the size and the center position of a hole, by using the pulse signal that is delivered from a shift register in accordance with the brightness of an optical image. CONSTITUTION:An optical reading device 8, instead of an inspection jig 5, is attached to a spindle 4. The device 8 includes a lamp 9 to irradiate the periphery of a hole 7, a lens 11 to form an image of the surface of a worked product including the hole 7 on an image plane 10 plus a finder to view the image from a side part and by a half mirror 12. Two linear image sensors 14a and 14b extending to directions X and Y are provided on the plane 10. These sensors are equal to the IC arrays in which a number of photodiode elements are formed close to each other on a commpn chip, and each element produces the photosensitive signal in accordance with the brightness of an image 7i on the plane 10. The photosensitive signal is converted into a binary signal by the threshold value and supplied to each bit of a shift register to be shifted by the clock pluse. Then the output of the shift register is counted by a counter to measure both the position and the size of a round hole 7a.
