Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent adhesion breakdown between a metallic core bar and rubber, and to execute the fixing efficiently, by controlling the supply of electric current to an external heating source of a pressure roller, by 2 temperature detecting means provided on both the outside circumferential surface of the surface rubber layer of the pressure roller and the circumferential surface of the metallic core bar part. CONSTITUTION:A thermistor 16 is provided on the surface of a metallic core bar part 4 positioned at the opposite side to a carrying reference 0 of a pressure roller 3, and a temperature rise of an adhesive layer 17 can be detected exactly. Another thermistor 18 is provided on a position corresponding to within the paper feed width of minimum size of the circumferential surface of a rubber layer 5 of the pressure roller 3. A halogen heater 15 being an external heating source of the pressure roller 3 is controlled by the thermistors 16, 18. A set temperature of the thermistor 16 is set to a breakdown temperature or below of the adhesive layer 17, and a set temperature of the thermistor 18 is set to a temperature which is capable of maintaining a surface temperature of a fixing roller 2 at a fixing temperature. When one of said thermistors detects an upper limit temperature, the supply of electric power is cut off.
