Abstract
PURPOSE:To change the color tone of visible absorption by forming a 3-layered structure consisting of a solid electrolyte with high electric conductivity, an org. dye or the reductant of an org. dye, and a transparent electrode and by applying an electric field between the electrolyte and the electrode. CONSTITUTION:A solid electrolyte 1 with high electric conductivity and an org. dye 2 or the reductant of an org. dye are interposed between a gold electrode 4 and a transparent electrode 3, and by applying a voltage from a DC power source 5, an ionic dopant in the electrolyte such as H<+>, Li<+>, Na<+>, K<+>, Cl<-> or Br<-> diffuses on the surface of the dye and is taken in the dye. Phthalocyanine dye, triphenylmethane dye, leucotriphenylmethane dye, squalic acid dye or the like is doped with the ionic dopant, and simultaneously the color tone is changed. Especially the reductant of leucomalachite green or the like is clearly changed from the colorless state to green or other color.
