Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the water content in the gasohol (mixed fuel of gasoline and alcohol) quickly and simply by measuring specific gravity. CONSTITUTION:The gasohol has a constant specific gravity depending on the ratio of inclusion of gasoline and ethyl alcohol or methanol. However, the specific gravity changes to the large extent depending on the water content. Therefore various float type specific gravity meters 1 having a reading part 1a, wherein a scale is provided so that the highest part corresponds to the case the water content is zero in the mixture of gasoline and alcohol and the percent of water content is marked at an appropriate interval (e.g. every 1.0% of water content), is prepared. On the opposite side of said water content scale, specific gravity scale is marked. By using this meter, the water content in the gasohol can be accurately measured quickly and simply.
