PURPOSE:To detect always a framing code signal accurately and surely, by detecting a waveform distortion generated in a framing code signal to switch the low group delay characteristic of the transmission line in a receiver. CONSTITUTION:A group delay characteristic correcting circuit 10 is connected or disconnected selectively between a circuit 1, which includes devices from a tuner to a video intermediate frequency detector, and a gate circuit 2 for extracting a character signal, which extracts one horizontal scanning period with a character multiple signal inserted from the detection output of the circuit 1, by a relay 11. A peak detecting circuit 12 is provided where the output signal from the gate circuit 2 is led, and the output of the circuit 12 is smoothed by a low pass filter and comparing circuit 13 and is compared with a constant voltage, and a discrimination controlling circuit 15 consisting of an FF circuit 14 is driven by the comparison output of the circuit 13, and thus, the relay 11 is switched by the circuit 15.
