Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve a high discharge characteristic at a low temperature and extend a battery life by controlling the porosity of a positive electrode molding made of a mixture of manganese dioxide and graphite and the amount of an electrolyte injected in a positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of electrolyzed manganese dioxide and graphite is compressed and formed into a positive electrode molding 2 with a porosity of 23.5-28%. This positive electrode molding 2 is injected with an electrolyte made of an aqueous solution of caustic alkali with a volume of 85-97% against the volume of holes. To get the positive electrode molding 2 with a porosity of 23.5-28%, electrolyzed manganese dioxide is mixed with graphite at a ratio of 89-95:11-5, by weight, then the mixture is compressed and molded under a forming pressure of 3tons/cm<2>.
