Abstract

PURPOSE: A sodium salt of CMC, which has been treated with an aldehyde such as glyoxal, is added to mud to prepare a mud for civil engineering, e.g., for ground excavation that forms uniform suspension by stirring for a short time and has an appropriate viscosity.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a sodium salt of CMC is suspended in a solvent such as a water-alcohol mixture and a glyoxal solution in water or alcohol is added to the suspension.
