Abstract

PURPOSE: To inexpensively obtain flaky metallic powder useful as a pigment for water paint by using dimer acid and higher aliphatic amine as an auxiliary when a metal is pulverized in an aqueous solvent.
CONSTITUTION: When a metal such as atomized Al powder is pulverized in an aqueous medium, about 0.5W10wt% dimer acid or about 0.5W10%≥1 kinds of ≥8C higher aliphatic amines such as stearlyamine are used as an auxiliary, or both the compounds are used combinedly by a required amount each. In a kneading process after the pulverizing process they may be used. When they are emulsified in water, a surfactant is used. By adding flaky metallic powder obtd. by this method to water paint, the reaction with water can be inhibited almost thoroughtly. this metallic powder can be also used as a foaming agent for foam concrete.
