CONSTITUTION:A mark M is put on a part of a belt-shaped photoreceptor 4 which is stretched between a driving roller 1 and an idle roller 2 and has a joint 3, and a detecting sensor 5 is provided. In this constitution, the time from the start of driving of the roller 1 to the detection of the mark M is ineffective, and the process is started by the time elapse from the detection of the mark M. Thus, since the process is started on a basis of the detection time of the mark M independently of the position of the joint 3 and the slippage between the photoreceptor 4 and rollers 1 and 2, an image is always formed from a prescribed position of the photoreceptor 4.
