Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover Zn and Pb by charging dust into an electric furnace which is in operation optionally after adding cinder, red mud, etc. to the dust, dividing a bag filter for direct suction from the furnace into 2 chambers, and collecting dust with both the chambers in an ordinary state and with 1 specified chamber during the generation of volatile oxides.
CONSTITUTION: A bag filter for direct suction from a furnace is divided into 2 chambers 4, 6, and dampers 3, 16 are attached to 2 parts of a duct 2 leading to the chambers from an electric furnace 1. Electric furnace dust is charged into the furnace 1 which is in operation, or it is added to molten steel making slag together with one or more among cinder, red mud, slag, clay and slate while blowing a bubbling gas into the molten slag. In an ordinary state the dampers 3, 16 are opened, and dust is collected with the 2 chambers 4, 6 of the filter. When volatile oxides, chiefly ZnO and PbO are generated in large quantities, the damper 16 is closed, and dust is collected with only the chamber 6.
