Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover volatilized Zn, Pb, etc. and to make harmful matter in electric furnace dust harmless by adding the dust to molten slag in an electric furnace.
CONSTITUTION: Electric furnace dust is added to molten slag in an electric furnace while causing convection to the slag by blowing a bubbling gas. Volatilized metallic oxides, chiefly Zn and Pb oxides are recovered with a filter. Thus, valuable metals such as Zn and Pb are recovered efficiently, and since the slag treated with the dust is made harmless and unslakable, it can be utilized effectively as a roadbed material, etc.
