Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize a complex 4-quadrant multiplication having excellent linearity, by using an adverse phase branching circuit, 4 variable resistance elements, two differential amplifying circuits and a signal synthesizing/coupling circuit. CONSTITUTION:When a pass band signal is supplied to an input terminal 1, the output of a branching circuit 4 passes through variable resistance elements 51, 52, 53 and 54. The current flowing to the elements 51 and 53 is controlled by a differential amplifying circuit 61. While the current flowing to the elements 52 and 54 is controlled by a differential amplifying circuit 62. When the real number part of the complex base band signal is applied to an input terminal 2, the input signal plus the result of a 4-quadrant multiplication of the real number part are delivered. When the imaginary part of the complex base band signal is applied to an input terminal 3, the input signal plus the result of the 4- quadrant multiplication are delivered. The result 6 of these two multiplication are coupled to each other by a 90 deg.-coupling circuit 7.
