Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a heat accumulating tank having a highly dense capacity, by utilizing a fusable material as a heat accumulating material in the heat accumulating tank. CONSTITUTION:As a heat accumulating material for a heat accumulating tank wherein water is changed into hot water to be stored therein by a heat pipe method by the solar heat energy collected through a heat collecting plate, use is made of a material that can be fusable at a temperature in the range of 20-97 deg.C to obtain the heat accumulating tank having a highly dense capacity. On the one hand the capacity of a heat accumulating tank that employs water is given by the formula: specific heat (cal/g)X rise of temperature of water ( deg.C)X weight of the volume of water (g), on the other hand the capacity of a heat accumulating tank that utilizes a fusable material as its heat accumulating material is given by the formula: specific heat of the fusable material (cal/g)X rise of the temperature of the fusable material ( deg.C)X weight of the volume (g)divided by heat of fusion (cal/g)X weight of volume. In other words, when heat is transmitted to the fusable material and the temperature reaches the melting point, the heat accumulating capacity is significantly increased by the absorption of heat of fusion of the material.
