Abstract

PURPOSE:To decompose basic gases down to N2 with virtually no side production of NOx at extremely low temp. in a high temp. oxidation decomposition method of NH3 and amines by catalysts, by specifying said catalysts. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst to be brought in contact with gases contg. NH3 and/or amines consists of the following: A composite oxide catalyst of 1) Mn, 2) >=1 kinds of V, Mo, W, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ag. This catalyst has so-called spinel crystal structure wherein the component 1 and the component 2 are mixed in the form of molecules. This catalyst may consist of only the composite oxide or may be the one made by depositing the composite oxide on a carrier such as alumina or the like.
