Abstract

PURPOSE:To conduct denitrification economically by using a low-cost catalyst by a method wherein a regenerated substance manufactured by heating and oxidizing a hydrogenated desulfurizing waste catalyst is used as the catalyst when a nitrogen oxide in discharged gas is reduced with ammonia and denitrified. CONSTITUTION:Ammonia is added to nitrogen oxide in the discharged gas as a reductant for denitrification of the gas. As a catalyst used at that time, a regenerated substance is employed which is obtained in such a manner that a waste catalyst of the hydrogenated desulfurizing catalyst formed by allowing a metallic oxide of nickel, cobalt, etc. discharged from a factory, etc. of industry relating to petroleum and coal to be carried on a carrier, such as alumina, etc. is heated and oxidized in the presence of oxygen, a carbon ingredient is burnt, and a metallic sulfide is converted into an oxide. Thus, the waste catalyst is effectively utilized, and denitrification is economically conducted.
