Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent defective welding due to oxides occuring during multi- welding of electrode plates by constituting a lug part with a metal having better weldability than a lead-calcium type alloy and other part with a lead-calcium type alloy. CONSTITUTION:A sheet base metal 7 is manufactured by consisting its center with a metal having better weldability than a lead-calcium type alloy such as a lead-antimony type alloy band 8 and its one side or both sides with a lead- calcium alloy band 9. The sheet base metal 7 is rolled to a specified thickness. A width W1 of the lead-antimony type alloy band 8 is equal to or less than the height of a lug of an ultimately finished expanded grid. A width W2 of the lead-calcium type alloy band 9 is decided in consideration of the height excluded the height of the lug of the ultimately finished expanded grid. A rolled sheet metal 16 is passed through an expander 17 to form nonpressing part 18 having a width of W3 in its center and a mesh part 19 on its both sides with an expanding process.
