Abstract
PURPOSE: To eliminate such an expensive apparatus as a smelting furnace from a manufacturing line for a lead-sheathed heat pipe to be used in a waste heat recoverying heat exchanger, by subjecting a lead-sheathed pipe prepared by a forming roll to a stretch drawing process through a die.
CONSTITUTION: A lead strip is supplied from a drum 3 to a forming roll 4, and at the same time, a heat pipe 1 is also successively fed to the forming roll 4 by which a lead sheath is formed around the outer surface of the heat pipe 1. The butting edges of the lead sheath are welded by a welder 6; then, a stretch drawing through a die 9 is applied to the heat pipe 1 as a chuck 10 is withdrawn; hereby, a lead-sheathed heat pipe 12 is prepared. This lead-sheathed heat pipe 12 is successively cut into a prescribed length; both ends of this short cut heat pipe 12 are drawn into a semisphere shape by a rotating concave round die 13. Moreover, a small hole 14 resulted by the drawing process is tight sealed, and a lead-sheathed heat pipe 13 is completed.
