Abstract
PURPOSE: To greatly improve the uniformity of a clearance between an outer pipe and inner pipe at a curved part, by solidifying the liquid filled in the clearance between the outer and inner pipes of a double pipe, and by applying a bending work to the double pipe kept under above stated condition.
CONSTITUTION: The end of the outer pipe 2 is necked so as to touch the outer surface of the inner pipe 4, and both pipes 2, 4, are joined by the spot welding, etc.; besides, a heat insulating material 6 is put into the clearance between the outer pipe 2 and the inner pipe 4; hereby, a double pipe 7 is prepared. Next, such liquid 8 as water, etc., is filled up in the clearance of this pipe 7 which is then cooled to solidify the liquid 8. Under this condition, a part of the pipe 7, suitably distant from the bending part 10, is fixed by a suitable chuck, etc., and the part 10 is pressed and bent by the press 12. After the bending work, the pipe 7 is heated to melt the solidified liquid 8, which is then discharged by removing the plug 14 set in the outer pipe 2. Hereupon, the heat insulating material 6 is prepared from such heat insulating substance as fluorite, etc., for example, possible to expand by heating so as to fill up in the clearance of the pipe 7.
