Abstract
PURPOSE:To compensate the deterioration in high frequency characteristics due to spacing loss, by detecting the increase in the spacing loss caused by dropout through the reduction in a reproducing signal level and making high frequency compensation at a negative feedback loop. CONSTITUTION:An output of a variable high frequency gain compensation circuit 5 is applied to a reproducing signal level detecting circuit 6 and amplitude of a reproducing NRZ signal is detected. The output of this circuit 6 is applied to a subtractor 7 to obtain an output of difference between the reference level from a reference DC power supply 8 and the output of the detection circuit 6, and this output difference is fed back to the circuit 5. In the circuit 5, the high frequency gain is changed in accordance with the envelope of a reproducing signal, and high frequency gain is increased in phase-linear by an amount corresponding to the lowering in the envelope of the reproducing signal for the spacing loss to compensate the high frequency. Thus, the deterioration in the high frequency can be compensated.
