Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an image signal of high quality by switching the sizes of a measured visual field determined by a photoelectric converting means and an electric-signal processing means in accordance with the focal length of an optical system. CONSTITUTION:This describes the focus setting of the photographic lens of a camera by applying a focus-position detection and display system to the camera. A viewfinder visual-field frame 19, a visual-field mark 20 indicating the present position of a measured visual field, and a mark 21 showing that the camera is in focus are provided, and a display element LEDB is arranged right behind the mark 21. Marks 22 and 23 which indicate a front-focus and a rear-focus state are arrow marks which show the rotation directions of a focusing ring for transition from an out-of-focus state to an in-focus state, and display elements LEDs C and A are provided right behind them. Consequently, a photographer knows the focus setting state of the camera by judging which mark lights up, and then stops the setting of the photographic lens in the in-focus state. In the front-focus or rear-focus state, the photographic lens focusing ring is only rotates as shown by the arrow of the mark 22 or 23 until the focusing mark 21 lights up.
