Abstract

PURPOSE:To adjust an auto-focus cheaply and easily, by focusing the optical image for focus detection onto a part outside the photographic screen in the pickup face of an image pickup device. CONSTITUTION:The image pickup optical system of a television camera consists of a focus lens group 1, a variable magnification lens group 2, and a focusing lens group 3. The optical image of an object is focused onto a pickup face 4a of an image pickup device 4 and a converted to an electric signal. A half mirror 5 as a light splitter is interposed between the variable magnification lens group 2 and the focusing lens group 3 to take out a part of the pickup light flux to above, and it is led while being deflected at every 90 deg. by mirrors 6-8 as light deflectors; and lenses 9 and 10 and lenses 9' and 10' as a pair of lens systems are provided between mirrors 6 and 7 to focus a pair of images on a part of the pickup face 4a of the pickup device 4.
