Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a potential change to produce immediately, which results in improving responsiveness, and to facilitate measuring of a change with the elapse of time of a concentration of a change in partial pressure of carbonic acid gas, by a method wherein a responsing electrode, brought into contact with an electrolytic solution, is adhered to an inner side of a high-molecular film having carbonic acid permeability. CONSTITUTION:A comparison electrode 2, such as silver chloride, is secured to a central concavity in a circular body made of synthetic resin, and a toroidal film holder 3 is fitted around the body 1 to support a high-molecular film 4 gaving a CO2 gas permeability. The high-molecular film 4 holds in a thin layer an electrolytic solution 5, whose pH value changes corresponding to a change in a CO2 concetration, between the comparison electrode 2 and the under surface of the body 1. An electrode material, such as gold, platinum, is adhered to the internal side of the high-molecular film 4 to form a responsing electrode 6, and the under surface of the body 1 and a toroidal contact member 7 are positioned facing and oppsite to the responsing electrode 6. Immediately after CO2 gas permeates the high-molecular film 4, it reaches the surface of the induction electrode 6 to create a pH change, and thereby a potential change occurs immediately, which results in improving responsiveness.
