Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a gas permeable membrane extremely thinly by penetrating electrolyte into a porous cathode, then forming the gas permeable membrane onto the surface thereof by spraying, dip coating, etc. CONSTITUTION:Gold, silver, platinum or the like is formed into a thin film form on the surface of a tubular body 2 of porous ceramics or porous plastics to form a cathode electrode 3. This cathode electrode 3 has pinholes and is formed on the entire lower surface 3a and part 3b in the intermediate and upper parts of the body 2. The same resin layer 5 as a gas permeable membrane is formed on the surface in the intermediate part of the body 2. This cathode electrode 3 and the resin layer 5 are immersed in an electrolyte cell, and is evacuated in this state, whereby the electrolyte is allowed to penetrate into the electrode 3. Thereafter, the surface is coated with a hydrophilic material. Thus, a gas permeable resin is sprayed onto the surface thereof, and a gas permeable membrane 6 is formed by dipping, coating or the like.
