Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a resistance element having large output by forming a thin semiconductor film having magnetic resistance effect in a loop shape, providing four-terminal electrodes on said film with an interval being provided, providing short bars between the first and second electrodes and between the third and fourth electrodes, and not providing the shorting bars between the second and third electrodes and between the fourth and first electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The thin semiconductor film 11 having the magnetic resistance effect is formed in a square loop shape. The terminal electrodes 16-19 are formed at the corners of said square on the film 11. The short bars 14 comprising an ohmic electrode are provided between the electrodes 16 and 17 and between the electrodes 18 and 19 on the film 11. The bars 14 are not provided between the electrodes 17 and 18 and the electrodes 19 and 16. In this constitution, a constant voltage is applied between the electrodes 17 and 19, and a uniform magnetic field is applied on the entire element at the same time. Then, it is possible to take out the difference in potential variation based on the variation in resistance between the electrodes 17 and 18 and between the electrodes 18 and 19 from the electrodes 16 and 18. Therefore, the output obtained becomes twice the usual value.
