Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the charge/discharge effeciency and the service life by containing a concentration cell in a battery while detecting the electromotive force to start/stop means for agitating and circulating the electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:An electrolyte agitator 6 for sucking the electrolyte 3 at the lower portion and delivering at the upper portion is provided in a battery jar 1 of a lead battery which will repeat the charge/discharge under 90% charged state, while a concentration cell 7 where a pair of electrodes 7b, 7c are burried is contained in a plastic supporting frame. The electromotive force of said cell 7 is detected by a detector 8 to control a switching device 9 thus to start/stop said agitator 6. Consequently the specific gravity is made constant at the upper and lower portions to eliminate the softening of the positive plate and to reduce the fall-away of the active substance resulting in the considerable improvement of the charge/discharge efficiency and the service life.
