Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the specific electrical resistance and to increase the antioxidation property of the preheating plug of the diesel engine and to improve the starting efficiency of the engine by giving to the engine a sufficiently quick heating property by a method wherein an Fe alloy including Co (3-15%) is used as the heat resistant member to be embedded in a heat resistant metallic sheath forming part of the preheating plug. CONSTITUTION:The sheath type preheating plug is constructed in such a manner that a thin metallic wire as the heat resistant member is embedded in the heat resistant metallic sheath in the form of a pipe of stainless steel or the like and magnesia powder is packed in the space between the heat resistant member and the sheath. In this case, the heat resistant member is made of an alloy consisting of 3-15% of Co and Fe for the rest. As the consequence, one of the properties of pure iron, that is, the property of increasing the specific electrical resistance due to a temperature rise can be improved, the lowering of the efficiency of the preheating plug due to oxidation can be prevented to thereby increase its durability and at the same time, the starting efficiency of the diesel engine can be improded.
