Abstract

PURPOSE: To minimize thermal change of a metallic pipe when processing a slit by a method wherein a metallic pipe is held down by a pipe holding fitting and fused by cooling with a cooling medium to process a slit.
CONSTITUTION: By utilizing pipe positioning fittings 3, a metallic pipe 4 is rightly placed in a pipe cooling vessel 2 to hold said metallic pipe 4 from both sides with pipe holding fittings 6 for fixing said pipe holding fittings 6 with bolts 7. Thereafter a cooling medium 5 is put in the pipe cooling vessel 2 up to the height of 0.5HW0.7H of the metallic pipe 4. Under said condition the metallic pipe 4 is diffused by plasma or laser to perform slit processing for forming a slit 10 to obain a duct type trolley 11. Thereby a thermal change of the metallic pipe at the time of slit processing is minimized enabling to manufacture a duct type trolley.
