Abstract
PURPOSE:To equalize the distribution of the quantity and the speed of the electrolyte flow, and enhance the efficiency of a battery by attaching a supporter, which consists of rectifying parts, a diaphragm supporting body and a supporting frame, to one side or both sides of each electrode frame or diaphragm frame. CONSTITUTION:An electrode frame 51 for an electrode 5 is provided with many holes 53, which are used for stacking and fixing electrodes and diaphragms, manifolds 54 and 55 through which anolyte is supplied and exhausted, channels 56 and 57 through which anolyte flows onto and flows out from the electrode surface, and a manifold 58 through which catholyte passes. An electrode body 52 is provided in the center of the frame 51. A supporter 61 consists of a supporting frame 62, rectifying parts 63 provided at the top and bottom of the frame 62, and a diaphragm supporting body 66 provided between the rectifying parts 63. The supporting frame 62 is formed so that it can be attached inside the electrode frame 51. The rectifying parts 63, which are located near the top and bottom sides of the electrode frame 51 or a diaphragm frame 41, are provided with plural lines of projections 64 paralleling the frame 51.
