Abstract

PURPOSE:To control focusing without the attachment/detachment of a focusing mark mask by forming the image of the mask composed of electric optical elements with plural lights refracted and separated by a double-wedge prism. CONSTITUTION:An incident light is refracted by a double-wedge prism 3 for light splitting and separated into plural lights. Two images of a focusing mark mask formed by the part, in which transparent electrodes 9 and 9' to which driving voltages are applied and which are composed of liquid crystal 8 forming electric optical elements are overlapped, are image-formed by two lights. When an objective lens or the like is moved so that 2 images are overlapped so as to become a single image, the optical system is focused. When the switch S is opened after focusing, the focusing mark mask is not formed, making it possible to control focusing without the attachment/detachment of the mask. The same result is obtained when electrocromy is used instead of liquid crystal.
