Abstract
PURPOSE: In the equipment for producing isocyanuric acid through a dry process, a specific thermal radiator is bult in the rotary kiln to heat the raw materials with the radiation heat to permit long-run operation with high heat efficiency and to produce isocyanuric acid in high yield.
CONSTITUTION: In the equipment for producing isocyanuric acid through a dry process, a thermal radiator is set inside the rotary kiln almost coaxially with the shaft of the kiln where the outer diameter of the radiator is made to 1/6W 1/2 of the inner diameter of the kiln shaft, thus the raw materials for reaction in the kiln are heated with the radiation from the surface of the radiator. Then, preferably a part of the crude isocyanuric acid formed is mixed with urea, one of the raw materials, and circulated in the equipment and the remaining is hydrolyzed and filtered to give the purified isocyanuric acid. At the same time, ammonic gas, as a by-product, is burned and the heat is utilized for the kiln. Further preferably, after the hydrolyzate solution is treated with a strong alkali, chlorination is effected to produce chlorinated isocyanuric acid in the integration with the above process in high yield.
