Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:n-Octyl-(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)benzene shown by the formulaI.
USE: A synthetic oil with insulation properties and dielectric properties. Having electrical properties equal to those of polychlorinated biphenyl, being easily subjected to biological decomposition in natural environment. Useful as an insulating oil for condenser, capable of contributing to the improvement and the miniaturization of a condenser and devices using it.
PROCESS: n-Octylbenzene is reacted with 3,3,3-trifluoropropene in the presence of an acid catalyst of HR or BF3, to give a compound shown by the formula(G). In the case of BF3, the reaction temperature is preferably 0W100°C, and in the case of HF, 50W150°C.
