Abstract

PURPOSE:To control toner density with high sensitivity and high precision without the influence of environmental variation, by detecting a phase difference between a power voltage and a voltage based upon variation in reactance and by supplying toner in the amount which corresponds to the difference. CONSTITUTION:When voltage of an AC power source 1, a detection coil 2, and resistances 3, 4 and 5 are V0, VL, V3, V4 and V5 and a deviation voltage between intermediate points P and Q is VD, VD=V4+V5=VL+V3, and VD=V3- V5; when V4=V5, VD=V3-1/2V0. Further, the voltages VL and V3 are 90 deg. out of phase, and the vector of the voltage V3 moves at a point Q on a circumference having a diameter equivalent to the voltage V0. The vector of the VD, on the other hand, is expressed by PQ. When the conductance of a detection coil varies, the Q changes into a Q' and a control voltage proportional to variation theta in phase difference, thereby supplying toner in accordance with the voltage.
