Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect toner density always stably and accurately by adhering a developer consisting of two components to a detection part charged to a prescribed voltage and measuring the quantity of inductive electric charge at the time. CONSTITUTION:When the mixing ratio of magnetic carriers in a developer consisting of two conponents is increased, the quantity of electric charge per weight g/m is also increased. A detection part 4 charged to a prescribed voltage is provided on a photosensitive drum 2 to stick toner to the detection part 4 when passing through a developing roller 5. When a switch 28 is changed over to a contact (b), the charge with the reverse polarity to that of the detection part 4 is induced to the magnetic component in the developer. The quantity of inductive charge is measured by a voltage measuring circuit 9 and compared with the value the proper toner density from a reference signal generating circuit 12 through an opration circuit 11; when the density is low, a replenishing singnsl is outputted from a circuit 13. Thus, the density is detected accurately without influences such as particle size and the change of voltage.
