Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the laid position of a submarine cable in terms of the change in an induced voltage on the sea, by raising an AC voltage of 100V, applying the raised voltage to a telephone line combined with the submarine cable and moving a coil on the sea.
CONSTITUTION: The AC voltage of 100 V available on the spot is regulated and raised by a wound slide resistor 1 and is raised further to two times by a balancer 2. The raised voltage is applied to the telephone line 3 combined with the submarine cable. The sea water is utilized as a part of the voltage application circuit. The change in the induced voltage is measured by a measuring instrument. This enables the sure detection of the laid position of the submarine cable.
