Abstract
PURPOSE: Heat exchange is effected between the final concentrate of caustic soda from the up-stage tank and the condensed water from the low-stage tank to recover the heat to be taken off by the final concentrate and to reuse it for heating the multiple effect evaporator.
CONSTITUTION: The concentrate of dilute aqueous sodium hydroxide 4 is fed from the third tank 3 and transferred through the second tank 2 to the first tank 1 in order, while concentration is being effected. In the meantime, steam 5 is fed to the first tank 1 as a heat source and the steam generated in the first tank 14 is used as a heat source for the second tank 2. Further, the steam generated in the second tank 2 17 is used in the third tank 3 as a heat source and the steam from the third tank 3 is led to condenser 6. Thus, the dilute aqueous sodium hydroxide solution is higher concentrated with steam as it goes from the third tank 3 to the first tank 1. Namely, the final concentrate 7 from the first tank 1 is connected to heat exchanger 8, while the condensed water from the tank 3 is connected to the heat exchanger 8 where heat exchange is effected.
