Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent engine failure due to hunting in controlling the engine speed at the time of idling operation by way of closed loop control, by providing a blind zone in the aimed engine speed, and increasing the control quantity with increasing of the deviation between an actual engine speed and the aimed value.
CONSTITUTION: A blind zone K involving an aimed value N0 is determined by an aimed value setting circuit 53. When it is detected by a blind zone judging circuit 60 that an actual engine speed stands within the zone K, inadvertent control is stopped by a motor drive judging circuit 68. At the same time, a deviation signal 55 is produced through comparison between the aimed value N0 and a signal 52 representing the engine speed in a deviation detecting circuit 54. This deviation signal 55 has a characteristic increasing a voltage V with increasing of the deviation of the actual engine speed from the aimed value and is used as a control signal with its quantity of level shift and gradient of the input-output characteristics being changed by a first and a second sampling period setting circuits 56, 57. Therefore, proportional control is made to the deviation, so that it is enabled to prevent engine failure due to hunting of the control.
