Abstract

PURPOSE:To minimize the size of a lens and to realize the detection with high accuracy for an auto-focus camera, by setting a half mirror among the lens groups to lead the detected light. CONSTITUTION:A half mirror 19 is set at the position near the optical axis between lens groups 6a and 6b. Thus the detecting light flux is led to a detection element (an array of photoelectric converting elements or charge coupling elements, etc.) via a compensating lens 21, mirrors 22 and 24. In this case the lens 21 is set equivalent to a rear lens group 6b, and at the same time an optical path reaching the mirror 24 from the mirror 22 is set parallel to the optical axis. As a result, no effect is given to the detection of focus although a holding barrel 4 means back and forth due to the zooming operation, etc. A control circuit 43 works when a switch 37 is closed in coupling to the rotation of a diaphragm lever due to a releasing action or when a prefocus switch 45 and a real focus switch 46 are manually closed. Thus the focusing is carried out with the drive of a motor 15.
