In respect to these charge coupled devices, the detection precision is improved according as the number of stages becomes larger. Outputs of photosensors 16 and 18 are supplied to operating circuit 20. Lens assembly 22 which fluctuates the position of the lens to perform focusing is connected to lens 10, and lens assembly 22 is rotated by DC reversible motor 28 through gears 24 and 26. This rotation of motor 28 is controlled according to the output of operating circuit 20.
