Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled molded article which does not suffer from sink mark, warpage, crack, etc., by using fine particles of an expandable synthetic resin, a curable synthetic resin and, if necessary, an inorg. filler in combination, and curing the mixture.
CONSTITUTION: A lightweight syhthetic resin molded article useful for, e.g., the ceiling, the supporting spring or the formation board of a suction box for paper machines, is obtd. by using fine particles of an expandable synthetic resin such as expandable polystyrene particles, a curable synthetic resin such as an unsaturated polyester resin compsn. contg. a hardener, a surfactant, a solvent, etc., and, if necessary, an inorg. filler such as microballoon in combination, and curing the mixture. The specific gravity of this molded article is 1.0W1.1 and slightly smaller than that of the synthetic resins. Shrinkage due to the curing of the resin is compensated by the expansion of the expandable synthetic resin. Thus, the molded article does not suffer from sink mark, warpage, crack, etc.
