Abstract

PURPOSE:To titled composition, containing a sodium alkyl sulfate and a specific nonionic surfactant as a foaming agent in a dentifrice containing sodium chloride in a relatively high concentration, and having good foaming property without irritant action on oral mucous membranes in the oral cavity. CONSTITUTION:In a dentifrice containing sodium chloride, a sodium alkyl sulfate and a nonionic surfactant, e.g. polyoxyethylene hardened castor oil derivative (average number of added ethylene oxide moles: 60), polyoxyethylene stearyl alcohol ether (average number of added ethylene oxide moles: 40), polyoxyethylene stearic ester (avergage number of added ethylene oxide moles: 40) or polyoxyethylene sorbitan monosterate (average number of added ethylene oxide moles: 20), as a foaming agent are incorporated to give the aimed dentifirce composition containing sodium chloride. A good dentifrice having improved foaming property can be obtained without increasing the amount of the sodium alkyl sulfate to be incorporated.
